Bloodsuckers!
04.29.05 (7:49 am)   [edit]
Well, they're back. At least a few of them. I haven't seen hide nor hair of them since last summer. I'm talking about a gang of bloodsuckers that infiltrate our neighborhoods and prey on the weak and unsuspecting. They work in groups and gang up on their victims. Their strength is in their numbers, for alone they are weak and cowardly. They sneak into your garages, windows and even cars, ever watching for the moment you drop your guard.

Yes, I'm talking about mosquitos. Not just any variety, but ALASKAN mosquitos! These things are big. I've seen them carry off small dogs. If you hit them at a high rate of speed, they can crack your windshield. Spraying yard guard around your patio only invites them over.

The last two mornings one has been waiting for me at my door. He is huge and I named him Bubba. I know he must be a male because he doesn't attack me. Everyone knows that only the females are the bloodsuckers.

Relax, I'm talking insects here! Don't jump to conclusions.

My only defense is to think like mosquitos, and make adjustments accordingly. Let's see....they like bright colors. OK, on my morning treks, I always wear dark colored sweats. And they are most active at dusk. Good, I walk in the morning, though I might have to go a little earlier. The females are the bloodsuckers, so I must think like them as well. Let's see, I remembered to put the toilet seat down. But, I don't see that helping much.

Who am I kidding? No one can pretend to think like a female! (still talking insects, settle down).

By the way, we hit 70 degrees yesterday, and it's forcasted for that again today.

Have a good one.
