| Lay Off Moss! |
| 01.16.05 (8:56 am) [edit] |
I am not condoning Randy Moss's actions regarding the mooning incident, he is a jerk and everyone knows it (including his teammates), however, this was bungled at the league level as usual. Let's face it, the fine levied on Moss was merely an answer to the outcry from the media. Think about it. There was no penalty over his actions. I believe that a flag for taunting could have and should have been thrown, but it wasn't! As a matter of fact, Brett Favre should have been flagged for punching earlier in the game, but wasn't.
Somebody tell me the difference between Moss' actions and when some guys used to slide their hand across their neck, simulating slashing the neck. The league outlawed that practice. Or what about the "white shoes dance" or the "ickey shuffle" or the "dirty birds dance"? Athletes keep coming up with something new, and the league has to handle it. The main difference in the older displays of jubilation is just that! They were celebratory, not "in your face" disrespectful.
I just want the NFL to do their jobs and not buckle to any media. Football is still a team sport. The best sport in the world. It doesn't matter how great Moss thinks he is, he still needs a QB to get the ball to him, who in turn needs a line to protect him, etc.. If faking dropping your drawers is taunting, then throw the flag!!! That's what they are for. Don't cave to the media, the same media who shamelessly replays the incident over and over.
As for Moss, He's and idiot. Another uneducated punk who, if not for physical God given talent, would be in prison today. I had hoped that playing a couple seasons with a Hall of Fame reciever would have helped him mature, but it doesn't seem to be the case. These type of players have taken over the NBA, are starting to take over MLB, and if the league isn't careful, will invade the best sport of all. The commisioner as well as the owners need to get tough now or soon it will be too late.
Meanwhile, lay off Randy for the mooning. If it's a foul, THROW THE FLAG!!!! Until next time, See ya.
