BOND THE CON
12.03.04 (7:30 pm)   [edit]

i can't believe that Barry Bonds expects the fans to buy his story that he didn't know he was taking steroids! Oh I suppose it was just a coincidence that his physique pumped up and his homerun numbers swelled during the time he took these supposed herbs. And since his lawyer insists that he is innocent, it must be true.

Now granted, in this nation you are still presumed innocent until proven guilty. But, like one of his shots over the right field fence, this is just too far out there.

Now you can add the MLB to the recent sport scandals. So now you got the Olympics, the Tour d France, the NHL strike, the NBA brawl (and Kobe trial), and the MLB steroid boys. Not to mention Ricky Williams. I say boycott these sports and the millionaire thugs. The NFL football is the only decent sport left, and they are on thin ice. We need to go back to a time when amateur athletes drew a much larger audience than any pros. We need to break the players unions. We need the team owners of every sport to insist on moral conduct clauses in players contracts.

We need to have minimum age requirements in pro sports. Get rid of the thug's "posse's". Have mandatory rookie wages that we can control. There is a mountain of changes that could and should be made to fix the image of today's pro athletes. Then maybe we won't be afraid to have our kids idolize these punks.

Until some real change occurs, these athletes are just punks with athletic ability. Wouldn't the NBA die to have men of honor back in the sport? Men like Bird, Erving, Jordan, and Drexler, among others.

Until next time, see ya.
