Lead Butts
08.10.07 (9:02 am)   [edit]
rest stop" />I don't know how the iron butts do it. Some of them travel 1000 miles on their motorcycles in a day! They definitely must have a more comfortable ride than me. Plus, they must be independently wealthy to be able to be gone so much. Last week, a friend and I rode our bikes from Glennallen, Alaska to Tok, Alaska and back. It is about 280 miles round trip. From there, I continued on my own back to Anchorage, approx. another 185 miles. Giving me a total of 465 miles in a day. My longest ride to date, since owning my '05 V-Star. The weather was beautiful all day until the last hour of my ride. From Palmer to Anchorage it rained fairly steady. Plus, I ran out of gas a couple miles shy of Sutton, Alaska. I switched to reserve and continued on, not knowing how far it would take me. Luckily, the gas station was only about five miles up the road. It was the best ride of the summer (so far), and the bike ran great. I would certainly do that run again. Later
