Traditionalist Americans have perverted what this country supposedly stand for. They understand less than anybody what being an American and a patriot is about. It has nothing to do with fervent nationalism or support for war. It has to do with the people and hanging up self-righteousness in favor of adopting the mentality of a free society. And besides...morality is a purely human hallucination. posted by: dlgbomber (reply) post date: 03.06.07 (7:54 am) Well, most of us pray to SOME God, even if we differ on who that should be. But I can't think of ANY religion that recognizes homosexual behavior, much less embraces it. I never mentioned the war, you did. I'm not trying to reinforce my beliefs in public policy, they are already policy. It's the Gays trying to change an existing policy to reinforce their beliefs. I don't quite understand your last statement. Are you an Atheist? posted by: PastorDave (reply) post date: 03.06.07 (8:15 am) Some clear, straight shooting. I believe homosexual behavior is immoral, and a detriment to our society. I think, in our great country, we can surely make room for two people to be gay and live peaceful lives. Their bedroom is a place of privacy- I'll stay out. But as you have clearly said, when gays push a political agenda upon us, seems we have every right to push back. These people want to redefine marriage, and education, and even Christianity. And they make it so that, to have a contrary point of view, is to be labeled a "bigot". I've no doubt, if possible, these same activists would outlaw any opposition to their agenda. So I say, if someone picks a fight with you, they ought to be willing to take a few punches with the same bravado with which they throw them. Thanks. posted by: evilmammoth (reply) post date: 03.07.07 (11:20 am) Reply to: dlgbomber The point is that public policy has clearly been derived from the religious sentiments of policymakers. It is not, in fact, public policy in many cases. It is a manifestation of non-secular belief systems that should be excised from the law. Like I said, we are talking about freedom and equality for all people. You and PastorDave make the concession that people can do whatever they want in the privacy of their bedrooms. Well, it works the same way for religion. Do whatever you want in your church or synagogue but keep it there. It has NO PLACE dictating the lives of others. A ban on gay marriage is doing just that. It is inhibiting people from enjoying full natural rights that are available to heterosexuals. Face it. It is discriminatory. ...if you want to call me an atheist, I suppose it's the closest word to the truth. I just believe that the personification of god as human is unimaginative and far too simple an interpretation to be even close to the truth. As far as who/what runs this Big Machine, I don't know. I'm fairly certain it doesn't have a son, though. |
