I've been back this week, but was traveling the two weeks prior. This week I've been catching up and it seems as if I'm neglecting my blog. Maybe so, but it wasn't intentional. And with so much happening in the news, where to start? Two weeks ago we had another bear mauling. A thirteen year old boy scout from Texas. He wasn''t killed, in fact, he was only in the hospital for three days. He was lucky! It''s been a rough month for the boy scouts in general. Tragic about those four deaths at the national jamboree. They too were from Alaska. I''ll leave you with some commentary that appeared in the Anchorage Daily News. I kinda liked it. Meanwhile, I''ll try to get back on the tblog horse.
Look who’s talking
CHECK THIS from Ted Kennedy, the master of rights and morals when it comes to senatorial confirmation of judicial nominees — and specifically Judge John G. Roberts Jr.
Speaking of President George Bush’s choice to succeed Sandra Day O’Connor on the Supreme Court, the Massachusetts Democrat blustered:
“What side is this nominee on? What we know is that he is a wealthy Republican lawyer. The real issue is how is he going to come out on issues that are going to involve families and the people of this country.”
Well, how interesting, coming from a wealthy Democrat who needs to be remembered for the deadly scandal involving the death of Mary Jo Kopechne and the Chappaquiddick bridge, who also as a college student was dismissed from Harvard for cheating on an exam, and one whose family life has hardly been an example of good behavior.
Comparing Kennedy with Roberts is like looking at a bad apple and a bright and shiny one. To make it clear, the senator, who will be one of the leading Democrats in the Roberts’ confirmation process, is not the shiny apple.
Until next time, see ya.
