Well, not too many guys can place 2nd at Michigan, win at Infineon, then win at Daytona, all in three weeks time against the best there is. But Tony Stewart did just that. Check it out! 2nd at the 1.5 miler, then 1st at a road course, then 1st at a restricter plate course!
The only thing he could do any better is to win next sunday at Chicago.
There''s no question that the 20 team is hitting stride. They are starting to peak, and at just the right time. Tony''s at his best when he can just race. And when his Joe Gibbs team dials in his car and nails the pitstops, then he can do just that. The man will win any race, given a decent setup.
I thought both Gibbs'' teams suffered some when he Joe returned to coaching. And perhaps I am right, but now they are starting to perform. Almost like he said it was time for them to stand on their own, then forced them to by taking over the Redskins.
At any rate, I''m glad it''s happening as Tony is my favorite driver, and I have hime in our fantasy league. Current standings are at nexcup05.
Now if the 8 team can get it together, life would be good. There is still enough time for Dale Jr. and crew to get in the title race, but not much. Top 5 finishes are a must, and any DNF at this point will kill them.
Gordon and the Hendrick bunch are right on the cusp. Hopefully, they''ll fade and won''t be in the title chase. I hate the "pretty boys" like him and Johnson. But hey, Johnson would have to have a complete meltdown not to make it now. And I know that won''t happen.

Well, that''s all for now. Until next time, see ya.
