Best Record in WCC
02.28.07 (7:42 am)   [edit]
In a surprising two game finish in league play, the Gonzaga Bulldogs won another West Coast Conference title (pending the tourney). They have won or shared the title the last eight years in a row. On Saturday morning Feb 24th, the Bulldogs (9-3) were in second place to Santa Clara (10-2) with only two games remaining. Later that day the Bulldogs played the San Francisco Dons and needed one OT period to beat them. Meanwhile, Loyola Maramount was helping the Zag effort by knocking off the Broncos. Thus leaving both teams tied at 10-3 and one game remaining for each. Jump to Monday Feb 26th. The Bulldogs beat San Diego on the road (a game that was not televised, damn it). Meanwhile, the Broncos of Santa Clara played Pepperdine who is in last place in the WCC. Believe it or not, Pepperdine knocked off the Broncos (10-4) in one overtime, handing the league title (pending) to Gonzaga (11-3). With the league title and 21 wins overall, I think that will be enough for an invite to the NCAA Bracket for Gonzaga. The Zags sure could use the services of center Josh Hytevelt, but that’s not happening. It’s too bad he decided his personal drug use was more important than his commitment to the team, thus getting his ass kicked off the roster. Hopefully he will learn something from this mess. Meanwhile, the Zags are lacking talent in the paint, which will translate into an early NCAA exit. The WCC Tournament will actually crown the conference champ, but at least the Zags will have the highest seed. Let's see if they can hold 'em off another week. But record wise, the Zags are the Champs. Later

Gay Bashing
02.26.07 (10:00 am)   [edit]
It's an ugly term, and usually is derived from prejudice. Although, I have never been accused of gay bashing, I have been termed homophobic. What is that supposed to mean anyway? The person who called me that doesn't even know me. They merely read an opinion I wrote about gay partner benefits, and how I say it's bullshit. So, because I'm against taxpayer money funding benefits for a behavior I abhore, I am homophobic? (I'm also against welfare to women who have five children from five different men) I'll say it again for the umpteenth time, whatever john and fred do behind closed doors is none of my business. It's sick, discusting, and dimented, but still none of my business. What IS my business is how my tax dollars are spent by the feds and the states. I don't believe my tax dollars should go to fund fred's medical bills because he is a sex partner of a state or federal employee (in this case) named john. Any man who seeks sexual relations with another man is just as sick as one who seeks relations with a small boy, a small girl, or a sheep. I think that because society has evolved to a more accepting stance is both wrong and misguided. If you have other opinions about this subject...so be it. We still live in a free society. You have the Right to be wrong! I am not one that promotes gay bashing, black bashing, woman bashing, or any bashing. Although, it's hard to resist liberal bashing and Muslim bashing. But let's not go there. I don't wear my gay opinions on my sleeve, but if you ask me I will tell you. I don't feel there should be discrimination towards a behavior, nor should the behavior be recognized for specific Rights. This is not a race, there are not cities or countries of gays that immigrated to America. Hell, it's not a gay gene you got from your mother's side of the family. It's a behavior! And behaviors should not be glorified or recognized as a unique group in terms of benefits or marital status.

Freakin' Gay Unions
02.23.07 (8:19 am)   [edit]
According to reports, New Jersey is now allowing Gay Unions as an alternative to Gay Marriage. The unions will also qualify the significant other to receive the same benefits as a heterosexual couple currently enjoy. Well, isn’t that just perfect? While most liberals and women agree that this is the type of legislation needed to avoid discrimination, I have a very different opinion on the subject. But before I can state it clearly, I must define homosexuality the way us old school men see it. I believe homosexuality is a behavior, not something a person is born with. You show me a male animal like a dog, moose or chimp that would choose another male animal to procreate with (or attempt to) over a female. You show me scientific evidence, like DNA, that singles out the “gay gene”. It doesn’t exist. And if it ever does, I will certainly re-think my position. But clearly, being gay is a behavior, not a physical attribute. And, I might add, a deviant behavior. Therefore, by allowing the legal union of two people with gay behavior is akin to recognizing behavior like pedophilia, sadism, serial killing, bestiality, or having six wives. None of these BEHAVIORS is recognized, nor given the same rights as a married heterosexual couple. Leave it to the idiots on the east coast to start embracing deviant behavior and even reward it with legal rights. Look, I’m never gonna be accused of being “progressive”, and what two brokeback boys do behind closed doors is not my business. But when we start legally recognizing and accepting that behavior, that’s where I draw the line. Call me a homophobe, call me discriminatory, call me an “old bull”, but please, if you prefer your own sex….don’t call me! Thank God that Alaska is as far away from New Jersey as I can possibly be (except maybe Hawaii).

Super Sunday
02.04.07 (9:30 am)   [edit]
Today is Super Bowl Sunday! To football fans it is both the best sunday of the year, and the worst. All season long the teams of the NFL battle to make it to today's World Championship game. It is the culmination of six months of physical and mental training. And let there be no doubt, today's winner will be the champion of the whole world. No other nation could possibly compete with our boys. Could you imagine an Islamic team? Hahahahaha! Today is also the darkest sunday of the year. When the clock reaches quadruple zeros, the season is OVER! And fans all over the world have to endure six months of NO FOOTBALL. Oh sure, there is NASCAR to help tied us over, but please. The rules of NASCAR are ridiculous. Until they limit owners to just one car, and until they emphasize winning in the points race, NASCAR is just something playing on the tube in the background. True football fans must suffer through withdrawals the best they know how. They have six months to re-aquaint themselves with there children. Six months to go back to church. Six months to get the "ol' lady" a vacation. Or whatever it takes to make sure come August, their sundays are free again. This year I'm trying something new. I have season tickets to the Alaska Wild. The season starts in April and finishes in July. They are the newest member of the Intense Football League. It is arena football that is a notch or two below the Arena league you see on tv. They only have six home games plus the playoffs (if they get there), but we'll see how it goes. I'm sure I'll be reporting on it right here. So enjoy the game but try to prepare yourself for the nasty void that will soon overcome you. One last thing, who the hell signed "Prince" to do the halftime show? Why can't they get some classic rock band? I guess it's gonna be a good bathroom break. My prediction....Colts 37, Bears 23. Later.
