NBA PUNKS

Now Artest says he's sorry. Finally realizing how much it's gonna cost him, I'll bet he is.

NBA PUNKS!
11.22.04 (2:40 pm)   [edit]

All the news channels are a buzz with the story of Ron Artest, the idiot who ran into the crowd and punched several fans. I guess it took place on friday night in a game against the Pistons. I am disapponted but not surprised over his behavior and that of his teammates. I thought the suspensions handed out by Mr Stern were fair, especially when you factor in the civil suits these guys will face.

I've seen this sort of thing brewing for some time. The NBA needs to take a look in the mirror. The NBA owners need to weigh moral conduct into these outrageous players salaries. No, I'm not ignoring the players. They are predominately decent kids who are making a wonderful living playing a game. But the element of gangs and thugs has finally gotten a foot hold in this league, and if actions aren't taken soon, they will destroy the league. The players union would add a great deal of respect back into the game if it policed itself more. If they stopped resisting mandatory drug tests. If they developed their own moral code of ethics that they made all players sign. If they implemented a mnimum age requirement (like the NFL). There are several ways they could put forward good will for the sport and regain the respect of the fans. I don't condone any fan throwing water, beer, coins or anything on the floor or at the players. And certainly those fans should be investigated as well. But the fans have lost all respect for these NBA punks. You never saw fans throw things at Dr. J. Whether you liked him or not, you still respected him.

Now Ron and his pals have some time to reflect. But somehow I think they probably feel picked on. Probably tell you it's 'cause they're black. Well, I watched the replays on a color tv and then again on my old black and white just to be sure, and sure enough, all the players involved were indeed black. I can promise you that if it were a white player punching a 5'6" black fan, the news media would have a field day. What I find kinda funny (if any of this could be funny) is that Artest freaked at a fan that he outweighed by 100lbs and was a foot taller, but when he was shoved by Ben Wallace, he just walked away. Some say he kept his cool. I say he's a puss! If he's so bad, why didn't he take on Mr Wallace? He knew Ben would clean his clock.  But one look at a small white guy in the stands and he shot right after him. OK enough of the Punks.

How about that civil war? The Oregon State Beavers tagged the Ducks for 50 pts.! I believe the final was 50-21. It was possibly the best total game of the year by the Beavers. They dominated on offense, defense, and special teams (and their cheerleaders are better looking). Finally, everybody came to play. Remember, if you win just one game a year, it had best be the civil war. The win also marked the first season since 1974 that the Beavs beat Oregon, Washington, and Washington State in the same year. That's right, The Beavers are the Northwest Champs!

I know they will only finish fourth in the PAC-10, but that's better than the other three teams I just mentioned. Remember, they lost to LSU in OT, and they played USC tough (even lead at halftime). And lost to Cal in the last minutes of the game. That's three top ten ranked teams that they had to play this year. No other Pac-10 team had to do that. And I think that's great! The better the competition, the better the Beavs will be. Next year is looking up. We just have to come up with guys to replace Bill Swancutt and Derek Anderson (two guys you'll see in the NFL next year).

The Cliffhangers are 10 and 1 so far!!!

Until next time, see ya.

Liberals are mad!
11.19.04 (8:58 pm)   [edit]

I had a long drive home today, about 3 1/2 hours. So I got to listen to alot of news. The one theme that seemed to ring through almost every story was how mad all the Democrats seem letely.

I heard most of the interveiw with former President Clinton. Boy, he sure showed a side I hadn't seen before. He seemed genuinely pissed. All these years he has hid it pretty well. He reasoned that all the good things he had accomplished should somehow out weigh the bad. And he got real agitated with Peter Jennings over how he was treated by the media. Sorry Bill, what do you expect as President? Probably the most scrutinized person in the free world.

I also heard some news on John Kerry, and how he is now blaming Osama Bin Laden for his loss in the presidential election. Well, I guess that's better than taking the whole thing to the courts. But really John, should'nt you blame your constituents? I mean please, I personally know three democrats who supported you that never voted. Oh, they each had their lame excuses. But really, I'll bet there's a real trend there. It seems to me that the democrats I know are much better at polling than they are at voting.

Then there's Tom Daschle and his farewell speach to the Senate. But hey, it's friday and the weekend is finally here. So enough about all that junk. I'm looking forward to the civil war game between the Beavers and the Ducks tomorrow afternoon. Yeah, a cold beer and a nice cohiba, and just kick back and relax. Right!!! If the Beavs don't play well, I'll be jumping all over the place.

Next time I have some thoughts on this marine who shot the insurgent that was playing dead. And I will discuss why I don't think Hillary will run for President. Not in '08 or ever. But first, weekend! Hope you have a good one too. Until next time, see ya.

Go Beavers!

Today Tasers, Tommorrow Phasers!
11.17.04 (9:00 pm)   [edit]

Ok, this taser thing is getting out of hand.

With the invention and use uf tasers, police now have a non-lethal way of incapacitating criminals. Less police get injured, less bystanders are at risk and less criminals get shot dead. Sounds like a great means of restraint for all involved. As a matter of fact, the company's stock has skyrocketed and even split twice. But the liberal judges and jurys won't have any of it. In Bethel, Alaska a jury awarded a man one million dollars for getting tasered too much. He was drunk, beligerent and resisiting arrest. But his lawyer convinced a jury that the use of a taser was excessive. I wonder what the lawyers cut was? 40% ? Hell, considering that crooked town, I wouldn't be surprised if the judge got a cut.

A few weeks later... near Anchorage. Police are called to a school about a disturbance. It seems a 12 year old female has gone wacko and is cutting herself. I don't recall if it was a knife or a razor. Anytime someone gets close, she cuts herself again. A policeman tasers her. Now the public is up in arms over the big bad police tasering a child. Of course the tasering resulted in her NOT cutting her own flesh any more, and allowed the police and paramedics to control her and the situation. But the evening news ran the officer through the ringer.

I'm so sick of these liberal idiots. Maybe the police should have waited it out until she cut herself so much that she passed out from the loss of blood. I guess that would have worked! Maybe the drunk (from the first story) was tasered too much. Maybe there needs to be better training of officers of this new arsenal. But a million freakin' dollars? Where do I sign up for excessive tasering? I could and would endure it for a MILLION DOLLARS!

Before tasers, either one of these incidences could have ended much worse. But in both cases, the perpetrators were controlled and noone else was hurt. Why is that so hard to freakin' understand????

Now personally, I'm not at all afraid of being tasered. Why? Because I am a law abiding citizen. That's right, I don't break the law! The press is on some kind of crusade. But what do they want? To ban tasers? To drag officer's records through the dirt? Maybe they just don't want any laws at all? They surely don't want abortion laws or gay marriage laws. I guess it's civil liberties at all costs!

These lawsuits are exactly what's destroying this great country. "OK, I was drunk and out of control, but that's my business!" Give me a break.

Well, that's my rant for now. Until next time, see ya.

Civil War
11.16.04 (8:32 pm)   [edit]

Well it's "Civil War Week" in Oregon. The most important week in Beaver football. If the Beavs win one game a year, it better be this on.

I am new to this blogging thing, so I didn't really have a subject. I like to comment on Pac-10 football, politics, and current events.

I'm just trying this out for the first time and checking it out. Kickin' a tire if you will. As for the name... it's an old nickname from playing hoops. They called me the bomber. In today's climate it can be confused for a terrorist nickname. But that is not the case. The only people I would bomb are the actual terrorists.

Well, I'll post this for now and see how it looks. Later I'll write about a real topic. Until next time, see ya.
